Portraits or Landscapes or Sports or....

Updated: May 20, 2024

What do I photograph? What I like! and this should be your answer too. If it is interesting than do it. Learning composition and lighting will be different with each one. However, that's what makes photography interesting. Some differences and tips would be:

Landscapes; attempting to make a 3d image out of a 2d object and getting a ND filter (variables are usually cheaper and easy to use) Cutting the light many times is what makes it different.

Portraits; would be the other end of the scale in most cases. You need more light! but you also need to increase shutter speed, around 200. Because even if people are still they are moving, as crazy as it sounds

Nature: close up stuff is usually how to get it best so focus focus focus is your key.

Sports: even when you think your shutter speed is high enough, it usually needs to be higher! yes it is going to mess with your lighting so increase your iso. and continues auto focus becomes your friend very quickly.

As you see with each there is their own quirk or thing with it. But in all of it there is one thing in common; cool pics!! Be it portraits, landscapes, sports, etc photography. You can do it!
